Ms L. Terry

Hello My Name is.........

Dear Parents or Guardians,

I would like to welcome your child and you to the 2017-2018 School Year here at Erwin Intermediate. I hope your summer has been FUN!!!! My name is LaTonya Terry and I have been here at Erwin since 2006!!! I taught FOURTH grade for 10 years. I moved to THIRD grade last year!! I really enjoyed the year!!! I was born and raised in WALKER COUNTY from DORA, ALABAMA. I have WONDERFUL PARENTS (MOSES AND EVELYN TERRY)!!!! I have TWO sisters (SHANTE & ADRIENNE) and a BIG brother(JEFF)!!!! A 19 year old son named KOBE!!! We all ALL huge ALABAMA fans!!!! ROLLL TIDEEE!!! I am a graduate of ATHENS STATE UNIVERSITY!!! I am really looking forward to getting to know MY STUDENTS!! Below you will find a brief expectation of each topic. More information will be sent home.

COMMUNICATION: I will be communicating with parents by agenda, email, phone, conference, car line (only if needed), weekly newsletters, class dojo (info will be sent home soon), etc. Communication with parents is very important to me. I want each parent to KNOW what is going on in my CLASS.

GRADED PAPERS/TUESDAY FOLDERS: Assessments will take place as scheduled. Graded papers will go home weekly (every TUESDAY). Please sign the sheet inside of the folder and send back the papers that are 69 and below with initials. Progress reports will be sent home every THREE weeks. I will let you all know on class dojo or through my weekly newsletters.

HOMEWORK: I will send home homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. I don’t make my students complete many problems. They will only have a few!!!! However, they will need to read at least 20 minutes nightly, and study facts each night. I usually sign-up for BOOKIT each year online. Each students may earn a FREE personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut monthly starting in October. I will send a reading log home with students once it starts.

BEHAVIOR: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Resourceful

Our class rules will be followed throughout the day.

I will do my best to reach out to each and every child in my classroom. I want us all to learn this year. I love at the end of the year when I see students make progress towards learning. I will PUSH your child to do his or her best. Thank you for allowing me to teach your babies!!! If you have any questions or concerns you may call the school at 379-3350 or my cell 516-7789.
